Dragon Boat Race

Dragonboat Beaufort is a non-profit dedicated to providing grants to cancer patients who live, work or receive treatment in Beaufort County, South Carolina.
Anyone can compete in this event. Put together a team of friends and we will coach you to paddle like a pro! Each team will compete in three heats. There are many other events going on in the park on race day and it all helps a good cause – your Beaufort County neighbors battling cancer.

OUTREACH
- The OUTREACH Program was implemented right after the first Dragon Boat Race Day in 2013 and proceeds from Race Day go directly to our OUTREACH Program.
- DBB is totally volunteer run.
- DragonBoat Beaufort receives referrals from social workers, medical professionals, and other reliable sources in the area who refer patients who are struggling with everyday life necessities. These trusted relationships and DBB’s vetting process ensures that the right person may receive the right amount of funds at the right time.
- We help cancer patients deal with the realistic monthly demands of keeping the lights on, keeping the fridge supplied with nutritious food, or keeping gas in the car to get to treatment.
- In 2022 we have helped 130 clients and awarded grants for $57,000 !
- The clients have included breast, pancreatic, prostate, colon, head neck throat, rectal, lung, stomach, cervical and skin cancer patients.
- We have helped with mortgage and rent payments, car payments, car repairs, vehicle taxes, insurances, utilities, medical supplies and prescriptions.
- We have given gas cards to help defray transportation costs to doctor and treatment appointments. In addition, we provide rides for patients so that they can receive treatments.
- We have given grocery store gift cards for clients to get nutritious food.
