A Girl’s Weekend in Beaufort, South Carolina

The salty breeze stirred the Spanish moss as Sarah, Maya, and Claire arrived in downtown Beaufort, their laughter echoing through the historic streets. Their weekend getaway had finally arrived, and the charming Southern town promised relaxation, good food, and plenty of girl talk.

Friday Night:

They checked into their charming room at the Rhett House Inn, a beautifully restored 1820s plantation house, complete with daily champagne and afternoon cookies. After freshening up, they strolled down Bay Street, the heart of downtown, browsing through unique boutiques like SugarBelle, where they found the perfect souvenirs. Their arms full of shopping bags, they decided to reward themselves with dinner at Blackstone’s Cafe. The kitschy ambiance and delicious Lowcountry fare, like shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes, fueled their lively conversation, catching up on life and sharing dreams.

Saturday:

The next day started with a leisurely brunch at Lowcountry Produce Market & Cafe. Freshly squeezed orange juice and fluffy pancakes energized them for a morning of exploring. They wandered along the Waterfront Park, marveling at the docked sailboats and the stunning views of the Beaufort River. Feeling adventurous, they decided to rent paddleboards from Outside Hilton Head and explore the serene waterways, exchanging playful banter as they navigated the gentle current.

Saturday Night:

As dusk painted the sky, they pampered themselves with a relaxing massage at Spa Soleil, emerging feeling rejuvenated and ready for a night out. For dinner, they opted for a more upscale experience at Saltus River Grill. Candlelit tables, live jazz music, and delectable seafood dishes, like pan-seared scallops and lobster mac and cheese, created a truly luxurious atmosphere. They toasted to their friendship, their laughter echoing amidst the warm glow of the restaurant.

Sunday:

Before their departure, they stopped by the Beaufort History Museum housed in the historic Arsenal, learning about the town’s rich history and its role in the Civil War. With hearts full of memories and bellies full of Southern comfort food, they said goodbye to Beaufort, vowing to return soon.
